Tang and Song Text Questions


Due to the blizzard and to keep you from getting bored at home, I posted the next set of textbook questions for you. Questions 1-7 will be due on Friday 1/30.

Using pages 268-278 in your textbook, answer the following questions.  YOU DO NOT HAVE TO TAKE CORNELL NOTES!

 

  1. What dynasty reunified China after the fall of the Han and many years of fighting?  How long did it last?  Why do you think it lasted for such a short time?

 

 

  1. How did the Tang avoid “over centralization?”

 

 

  1. What evidence can we see that the Tang dynasty was interested in building up the strength of their military?

 

 

  1. Support the reasoning of many historians when they characterize the Tang Empire as “cosmopolitan.”

Week of 1/5-1/9

Monday 1/5: Welcome Back!  Elective assembly today!

Tuesday 1/6:

Wednesday 1/7: Students will go toguidance  to schedule classes for next year.  when you return you are to work on the packet on classical women.  There are three questions to answer about women in classical China, India and Rome. (please note there is an error on the third question, it should read Rome not India.

Thursday 1/8: I will be on a filed trip today.  You are to continue your classical women assignment and by the end of today's class you should be finished with the following:

If you could choose a classical civilization to live as a woman, which one (China, India, Rome) would you choose? Your answer needs to be at least 8 sentences long and needs to have at least 4 pieces of evidence from the documents. If the women assignment is complete you can work on your homework. Friday 1/9: Islam questions 1-8 are due today!!!!    Wednesday 1/14: Questions 9-14 on Islam are due!
